Collaborating with Starbucks and Amazon to promote career development and support programs to students at Arizona State University

Challenge

How might we partner with potential employers to create mutually beneficial learning and career development opportunities?

Strategy

Two-pronged effort:

  • Created the ASU Starbucks College Achievement Plan for Starbucks employees to have their career development programs and degrees paid for by the company
  • Partnered to promote Amazon as an ASU “Signature Employer” in exchange for Amazon providing career opportunities to students

Outcome

As institutions grow, high employability of graduates helps to maintain a quality reputation for the university and the potential employer. In the undergraduate class of 2014-2015, 87% of Starbucks employees studying at ASU reported employment or a job offer within 90 days of graduation.
