Challenge
How might we partner with potential employers to create mutually beneficial learning and career development opportunities?
Strategy
Two-pronged effort:
- Created the ASU Starbucks College Achievement Plan for Starbucks employees to have their career development programs and degrees paid for by the company
- Partnered to promote Amazon as an ASU “Signature Employer” in exchange for Amazon providing career opportunities to students
Outcome
As institutions grow, high employability of graduates helps to maintain a quality reputation for the university and the potential employer. In the undergraduate class of 2014-2015, 87% of Starbucks employees studying at ASU reported employment or a job offer within 90 days of graduation.
